Dojo Tour - Sunshine Coast Karate, Maroochydore Dojo![]() WELCOME TO SUNSHINE COAST KARATE "Welcome to my 'Dojo Tour' page of Mum and Dad's Sunshine Coast Karate website. My name is Sam and my Mum & Dad teach all of our family at the dojo. Mum and Dad said I could work on this page of this website so I hope you like what I have to share with you today. As I get more clever I'll update this page for you. And when my brother Steven gets bigger he'll help too. If you have any questions about my page can you come and visit me at the dojo because I don't have an email address yet. You can see a picture of Mum, Dad, Steven and me on the left. And I thought I'd put a photo of me on the left so you could see how tall I am." "While Mum and Dad teach, Steven and I sometimes teach too but we like to get out and visit the other Mums and Dads and share some smiles."
CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS AT SUNSHINE COAST KARATE Every month we help celebrate the birthdays of all the members in the dojo who are having birthdays in that month.
I have talked to Mum and Dad about doing karate games and parties together and they now hold special karate birthday parties for our special karate kids and their friends. I get to go and eat cake and party food. I'm just working on getting them to get a jumping castle for the karate kids and some big sumo suits to play in too.
Sometimes they're really nice and read me books and play games with me. When Mum and Dad aren't watching I'll sometimes build a tent for Steven with the lounge cushions. We hide under them and make everyone laugh. During the adult classes, some of the kids whose parents train wait out here and play with us too. Sometimes the big karate kids will do their homework and I help them." Uncle Jim (he is a big person that does karate with Mum and Dad) always brings lots of paper for us to draw on with the other karate kids whilst we are waiting for our classes. Uncle Jim is really clever and draws pictures of houses.
"Out the front, we have a small club shop so that all our karate families can buy things + there is a big catalogue of lots of other cool things that we can't fit in our dojo so we get them brought in when people want them. I am talking to Mum and Dad about having a bigger shop cause I like going shopping and buying them presents.
"Out the front, we also have a big fridge (its taller than Daddy) full of food and drinks that our friends from Willy's Snak Shak. Our friends at Willy's Snak Shak are Beth and Gary and they are our next door neighbours. Mum and Dad buy Steven and I a special lunch box once a week too when we come to the dojo after school. Snack Box Order Form > > My favourite thing is the 'red frogs' and Steven likes the chocolate bars with the gold paper."
But the soft matted floor is probably the best thing because I can run, jump and roll around without hurting myself. Steven likes the big balls to roll around on. But I also like the mirrors cause there are lots of them and they are bigger than Daddy and I am going to be a princess when I grow up.
Sometimes it looks like hard work for the students but they know, that my Mum and Dad care very much about them and they want to make sure they make them all great black belts. Mum and Dad tell me that everyone that walks into the dojo already has a black belt. We just need to help these people believe it and magic happens. Even I've learned a thing or two, but then again, I have been a part of the dojo my whole life!" I play karate at our home dojo everyday with Mum, Dad and Steven. I'm not sure why we play everyday for but Mum and Dad tell me that it takes care of my body just like eating healthy growing food everyday helps too. Anyway... It always makes me feel good.
Since I was born Mum and Dad have been learning lots about how to be a 'great Mum and Dad'. (There not doing too bad I guess) Now they give all our karate Mums and Dads a free magazine that you listen to each month. I think it is called Raising Real Winners. And Mum and Dad believe that even the karate kids need to form good habits too so every month they guide the karate kids to learn about things like: setting goals, patience, paerseverance, self confidence, self esteem, respect, leadership, self discipline, team work and lots of other things. Mum and Dad talk to Steven and I about these things when we go to bed.
We have lots of special events at Sunshine Coast Karate. Here are some of my favourites:
Please come and say hello and play with Steven and I and we'll teach you some karate. Well maybe Mum and Dad can teach you but we can help you have fun and laugh lots.
